more about me

sage writer performer creative thinker dreamer spiritual evolutionist sensual expansionist soulcollector rainmaker disruptor poet friend... I took on the name Sage several years ago because it called me to be something greater than I knew.  A wise woman on a never-ending path, embedded in her community as a pillar of compassion and hard hitting truth; healing and expanding through my craft.  Becoming sage has come to be a euphemism for that journey to enlightenment; the transformation to my higher self. A journey I know I will never complete.  I will continually be becomingsage.

ABOUT ME

To say I've led an eclectic life is probably a bit of an understatement.  I grew up in Aspen Colorado, one of the most beautiful and unique places on earth.  I received a degree in Theology with a concentration in Social Justice from St. Mary's of Notre Dame in South Bend Indiana during which I studied in France for a year and Israel for a semester.  I then modeled in Japan for two years before beginning my own photography tour company, Bodyscapes Phototours, focusing on combining the artistic nude figure with some of the most unique landscapes on the planet.  At this time I also became the main literary contributor for a fine art photography magazine, The Sensuous Line, combining two of my true loves writing and figure photography.  As I started writing and performing more and more I decided to write and produce my own one woman show, and in 2000, opened My Mothers Hand and other things that burn.  Its success encouraged me to audition for a lesbian comedy/farce called Girl Meets Girl in which I landed the lead role.  The next two years of my life would be filled with performing and traveling as a member of SweetFire Productions which put on Girl Meets Girl (in conjunction with Caryn Horowitz Productions) as well as My Mother's Hand and showcased the many talents of our cast.  I have now brought my unique voice to the Bay Area where I am writing furiously and looking for more and more venues at which to perform, in the hopes of bringing my work to an ever-expanding audienc

  ABOUT MY WRITING

I write about my life and my experience and though not exclusively, I predominately explore what it is to be a passionate lesbian woman, constantly in a place of growth and recovery.  I talk a lot about sex between women.  A specific catharsis happens between women that, in my opinion, is not expressed and explored and shared enough with the outside word.  The marriage of our bodies creates a unique sacredness and restores us, albeit temporarily, to a place of profound peace and power.

I also try to incorporate humor into my work.  There has been a lot of tragedy in my past and I believe that humor is a transformative gift from the universes.  I can see the humor in most things and this has allowed me to tender the pain.  I find in my performance pieces that people are much more willing and able to listen once they have had a good laugh.

I have written magazine articles, theater pieces, performance poetry pieces, spoken word pieces, full feature scripts, short film scripts, pilots, songs, webisodes, and have started a novel.  For a small sampling of my work please refer to my writing page.
